Cast Metal Services Inc...

...has had the benefit of a unique experience and history within the casting industry.  As B.L. "Butch"  Griffiths, owner of Cast Metals Services Inc., moved from laborer, through his assignments in quality control, onto managerial and supervisory situations, and finally onto executive positions culminating in his current entrepreneurial expedition into the casting industry; he has achieved a multilevel understanding of the metalcasting industry including experiences working closely with the workforce and unions.  Having discharged all of his assignments in a professional and personal matter, he has been allowed the respect of the casting community and related industries. This has resulted in a unique network of metal-related industries centered in Southern California, but having national impact.

In addition to being instrumental in engineering the merger of companies, Butch has made other contributions to the industry.  He has invented, installed and patented a device to cool electric furnaces resulting in extended furnace life.  He has researched and headed a pilot program for the “Lost Foam Process”.  He has also developed and managed a thermal sand reclamation system that successfully recoats spent foundry sand for use back to the industry, thereby saving millions of pounds per month from land disposal.

Because of Butch's strong belief in the future of the casting industry, he is active in both the American Foundry Society and the California Cast Metals Association.  Recent citizens lawsuits surrounding Proposition 65 and the Clean Water Act motivated him to counter any unwarranted suits by bringing to bear actions under the California Committee to Save Our Jobs.  He has been selected to the UCLA advisory committee for the study of lead exposure.
